IN FIVE STEPS: She comes in colors ev'rywhere

I spent most of today dyeing t-shirts. My hands have turned a slight purple-ish red.
It wasn't to hard, except that I was dying four different colors and I had to repeat all of the steps.

HOW TO DYE STUFF IN FIVE STEPS!

First Step: Pick out your colors and dye. I used Rit Dye Golden Yellow, Purple, and Scarlet Red.
Feel free to mix them! Always refer to your color wheel (thank you Mrs. Profitt)

Second Step:  Find something to dye. In this case, I dyed new white T-shirts. However, you can dye a piece of clothing you already have. It doesn't have to be a shirt either. It can be a jacket, a cloth bag, your underwear...etc.
Make sure the material of whatever you choose to dye won't be destroyed during the process. Also, keep in mind of the color. For example, if you are dying something black to green, you might have to bleach it before you dye it.

Third Step:  Add hot water to a big pan and add in the dye and shirts. Wait 15 to 30 minutes. I always wait a good solid 30 minutes just to make sure the color wont fade out when I do the final wash.

Fourth Step:  Make sure you are constantly stirring during the 30 minutes. This helps to distribute the color evenly onto the material. You also want to periodically check and make sure your material is the color you want it to be. When the 30 minutes are up, take that t-shirt out and run it under some cold water!

Fifth Step: After washing the shirts in cold water, wash them with a mid detergent in the washing machine.  What that's done, hang them to dry!

If you do not have access to a stove, the Rit Dye includes directions on how to dye your clothing by using your washing machine. I never risk doing that knowing I might permanently stain my mama's washing machine.
All in all it takes about an hour to do and it's fairly cheap too. One powder packet of Rit Dye is $1.66 at Walmart, and a Liquid container of Rite Dye is $2.78 also at Walmart (more bang for your buck).

New pujol shirts in the works

Local Nashville band, Pujol, is about to set off on tour again tomorrow. They will be returning August 16th I believe. While they are gone, I'm going to be gettin' down'n dirty with some silk screening.
I've began to plan out what the t-shirt designs, and this is what I have come up with so far

Rough, yes. But I've got all week to get inspired!

I'm Back!

From Europe that is. I have so much to tell you all and pictures to share but I am so jet lagged.
During my travels, I took a little sketch/ notebook with me. I plan to upload a few of those pages in the next few days.

You know it's summer when...

you drive one hour to watch Toy Story 3 at the drive in movie theater and snack on a blue bell ice cream cone while it's raining.

All Done

Talk about last minute! I just handed this bad boy to Ryan twenty minutes ago. I was given the poster last night and I was able to some how finish the letters after I got off work.
I really like it, even though I painted the letters rather quickly.
Here it is!

It only took me about an hour to finish. My favorite letter in this poster is 'n'. I was inspired by the Orange Amp Logo's 'n'.

Looking through a glass

Recently, I've been asked by a local Nashville band, called The Looking Glass, to design a (possible) cover for their new tape. I've known all three members for awhile now and I'm excited that they asked me to help!
